Testing the Hive Board after section one

Beitrag von AdamantiumOgre »

I am currently building the hive Board, rev 14 2011. I have the first step done. When I plug-in power and test the pin headers at the right side of the board, if I touch ground and 3.3 I get 3.3, but if I touch ground and 5.0 I still get 3.3. What Jumpers need to be set on the pin-header by the power jack and am I testing correctly? I have the middle jack jumpered by the power jack. It's not clear what all these pin headers do. If you could let me know that, it would be great. Also what needs to be set to test would be great too.

Thanks

Greg

Put the following four Jumper:

SW (Power Switch)
GND
3,3V
5V

Important: The power LED is needed as base load! Now you can measure.

I'm still having trouble with the board.

1) The LED heats up over time and starts to go on and off.
2) Still don't know where to put my leads to test the voltage.

This first attachment is so you can see the components I put on.
Including the LED.

The second attachment is to show the Zener Diode in the far corner of the board.

This is my soldering job. No soldering bridges that I can detect, but the flux is also still on the board.

Thanks in advance.

Here is also my BOM in case you are interested in going out to DigiKey.com and looking at the datasheets.

Thanks

Look at http://drohne0332.blogspot.co.at/2012/0 ... rgung.html - there is a nice image between which pins you should measure the voltage (between the marked GND pin and the marked 3,3V or 5V pin).

Attention!
Use rosin for soldering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flux_%28metallurgy%29 :!:

Acid in the flux destroys the interconnects !!!

Sorry i use google to translate. :TIPPEN

Actually I'm using Oatey No. 5 Lead Free Solder paste. I don't know if that is more of a flux or a rosin. I will throw this away, clean the board with Alcohol and buy some Rosin.

The test points work, so I'm going to ignore the LED heating up for now and work on the rest of the board. Thanks PIC18F2550 and Nubok

NOT FOR USE
WITH ALUMINUM, STAINLESS STEEL OR MAGNESIUM.
DO NOT USE ON ELECTRICAL PARTS.

1. All desoldering again. (Otherwise, it can not completely remove the flux.)

2. Wash the components with 60 ° C hot water.(with dishwashing liquid to dissolve the fat proportion) min 5 Minuten.

3. Rinse with clear water.

4. Let it dry 24H.

5. Components solder -> the proper solder. http://www.reichelt.de/Loetzinn/L-TZINN ... =L%F6TZINN

A proper solder joint, Silver shines. :DAUMENHOCH

Perhaps as useful info - how to Solder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_NU2ruzyc4

Edit:

Please check:

IC1 = L4940 V5
IC2 = LM2937 ET 3,3

Are the parts reversed?
